Andy Warhol's estate lost its US Supreme Court copyright battle against photographer Lynn Goldsmith. The court criticized Warhol's use of Goldsmith's photo of Prince in his silkscreen series. The case centered on Warhol's Orange Prince series. Despite Andy Warhol's foundation arguing for fair use, the court deemed it a copyright violation due to the insufficient transformation in Warhol's work, which primarily served a commercial purpose.

Non-Profit slammed $1,000+ Fine for Resharing an Instagram Photo

A Serbian non-profit organization, Fruškać, has been fined over $1,000 for a common action that many people do regularly. They shared a photo on their Instagram Story after being tagged in it, but this resulted in a lawsuit and subsequent penalty. Fruškać argued that they gained no personal benefit from sharing the photo and were actually promoting the photographer's work. Despite their explanation, the judge ruled against Fruškać, stating the breach of copyright.

Apple’s original Cloud Photo Sync Service shuts down this Summer

Apple is discontinuing My Photo Stream, the free photo syncing feature launched in 2011. The service will officially end on July 26th, with users being advised to transition to iCloud Photos. The move doesn't come as a surprise, given its limitations, including restrictions on photo quantities, a 30-day storage duration, and the inability to sync high-quality photos in their original resolution, as noted by 9to5Mac.
